Grapevine: Kesha contract upheld, Blunt eyes ‘Poppins’
Kesha loses court case
A New York judge has ruled against singer Kesha in her case against music producer Dr. Luke. Kesha, who alleged the producer drugged and raped her a decade ago, sought to dissolve a contract between the two parties that would allow her to record outside his purview. On Friday, New York Supreme Court Justice Shirley Kornreich upheld the contract. “You’re asking the court to decimate a contract that was heavily negotiated and typical for the industry,” the judge told Kesha’s attorney, Mark Geragos, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Dr. Luke has denied the allegations of sexual abuse and claims that Kesha and her reps are attempting to extort him to free her from contracts with Luke’s record label, Kemosabe Records.
Rihanna postpones tour dates
Birthday girl Rihanna — she turned 28 Saturday — has postponed eight dates on her forthcoming “Anti” tour. Production problems were blamed for the delay. The tour was set to launch Friday in San Diego, but was pushed back to March 12 in Jacksonville. The singer’s March 24 concert at the Palace of Auburn Hills was not affected by the postponement. Rihanna’s “Anti” album is No. 3 on this week’s Billboard Top 200 albums chart, down from No. 1 the week before.
Blunt circling ‘Poppins’ sequel
Emily Blunt may star in a sequel to “Mary Poppins.” The Hollywood Reporter says the “Sicario” actress is in talks to head up a sequel to the 1964 Disney classic, which would take place 20 years after the first film. Rob Marshall (“Chicago”) will direct the movie-musical.
Minogue engaged to Brit actor
Aussie pop singer Kylie Minogue is enaged to be married to Joshua Sasse, sources tell Us Weekly. The “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” singer, 47, and the British actor, 28, have been mum on the details of the proposal, but Minogue sported her rock while on the red carpet at this week’s NME Awards in London. It will be the first marriage for both.
