1. Art & Apples Festival at Rochester Municipal Park

Presented by the Paint Creek Center for the Arts, this event includes 30-acres with nearly 300 exhibiting artists, plus fun for kids, food and entertainment. 9 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Free. 816 Ludlow, Rochester. pccart.org.

2. Dally in the Alley in Midtown

Going 39 years strong, this independent community-driven street fair is always the Saturday after Labor Day. Besides five stages of entertainment, the event has local vendors, and food from Metro Detroit restaurants and caterers. 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday. Free. 3. UniverSoul Circus at Chene Park

An annual favorite, this family event has daring performances, trained animals and comedic clowns. The three-ring party kicks off this week and runs through Sept. 25. Noon, 4 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, 12:30, 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, 7 p.m. Tuesday and 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday. (through Sept. 25). $17-$30. 2600 E. Atwater, Detroit.
