Name: Alise King the Soulful D.I.V.A. That stands for “Divine Instrument Vocalizing her Ability,” according to King.

The Voice: King’s talent and stage presence have won her accolades from Detroit and beyond. Last year, she was named “Best R&B Female Artist” at the Detroit Black Music Awards and “Best Female Soul Artist of the Year” at this year’s Detroit Honor Awards. She’s also sang the National Anthem at a Detroit Tigers game.

Next: Hear Alise King on Thanksgiving night at MotorCity Casino Hotel with her group the Pure Nastiness Band. She’ll perform in the Chromatics Lounge 7-11 p.m. No cover. King will return there on Dec. 16 and Dec. 30. On Jan. 21, King will open for Bobby Brown at the Masonic Temple.
