Time to break free from the office for lunch; food trucks return to Campus Martius this week.

“Downtown Street Eats,” the weekday lunchtime series in Campus Martius kicks off Friday 11 a.m.-2 p.m. with a St. Patrick’s Celebration. The food vendors will serve Irish fare in addition to their regular menus and there will be games, music and dancing, including a performance by the Flanagan-O’Hare School of Irish Dance Michigan.

Rollin’ Stone Pizza will offer an “Irish Cheer” pie with creamy leek sauce and cheese topped with bacon, potato, Irish cheddar cheese and olive oil. Delectabowl will mix up the “Paddy Bowl” with roasted potatoes, slow-cooked corned beef, Brussels sprouts and a Parmesan mustard sauce.

After Friday, a rotating cast of food trucks, caterers and other restaurants will be represented at Campus Martius weekdays 11 a.m.-2 p.m. through Oct. 13.

Some of the businesses that have signed on for the 2017 season include Los Dos Amigos, Hunter House Hamburgers, Hero or Villain sandwich truck, Beans and Cornbread, Amicci’s Pizza, Streetside Sushi, Mean Weenie, Lazybones Smokehouse, Union Street Detroit, Buffy’s Mexi-Casian Grill and the Nosh Pit.
