Jody Watley headlines last day of Grand Prix
R&B and dance artist Jody Watley and her new group Shalamar Reloaded will perform June 4 during the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix on Belle Isle Park.
The Grammy Award-winner will sing her classic hits like “Looking for a New Love” and “Don’t You Want Me,” as well as new music from Shalamar Reloaded’s upcoming album “Bridges.”
Watley, who won the 1987 Best New Artist Grammy, will perform at 1 p.m. Last month Grand Prix organizers announced country music duo Montgomery Gentry will play on June 3. The race events are June 2-4.
Both acts will headline the MotorCity Casino Hotel Entertainment stage, located inside the Meijer Fan Zone at the Raceway.
“We know that Jody Watley featuring Shalamar Reloaded will bring a fun, party vibe to the island on Sunday at the Grand Prix,” said Grand Prix chairman Bud Denker in a press release. “This concert will be a great way to celebrate the final day of the Grand Prix and get the crowd energized at the MotorCity Casino Hotel stage leading into the final race of an exciting weekend.”
Grand Prix ticketholders will be able to attend the concerts at no addition cost. Single day tickets start at $40 and are on sale now at detroitgp.com.
