Mayor Mike Duggan gave the key to the City of Detroit to Big Sean before the rapper’s Fox Theatre concert Saturday.

“Today I got one of the highest honors a person can receive, the key to the City of Detroit” Big Sean said on Instagram. “The mayor said he’s given it to three people: Stevie Wonder, Berry Gordy and me. I'm the youngest person to receive this in the history of the city!”

The framed plaque with key reads: “The City of Detroit thanks you for your tireless commitment to being an instrument of encouragement for the youth of Detroit.”

Big Sean – born Sean Anderson on Detroit’s west side – said he was honored for the work he did through his Sean Anderson Foundation, which he founded with his mother Myra Anderson.

Earlier this month the organization launched Mogul Prep, which helps to teach disadvantaged students about the music and entertainment industry. Sean was given the key by Duggan on Saturday afternoon at a Mogul Prep event at the Madison Building in Detroit.

Earlier this year Big Sean’s newest album, “I Decided” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.
