1. Record Store Day at UHF Records

Local indie rock groups Valley Hush, Handgrenades and the Idiot Kids will perform at this Royal Oak vinyl shop in celebration of Record Store Day. This is just one of many special events happening at record stores nationwide Saturday. The store is open 10 a.m.-7 p.m., concert is 1-5 p.m. Free. 512 S. Washington, Royal Oak. (248) 545-5955.

2. Tribute to Dr. Sonia Sanchez at Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History

Professor and activist Sonia Sanchez will be honored Saturday with a screening of the film “baddDDD Sonia Sanchez,” plus a lecture by Dr. John R. Bracey and poems from local activist jessica Care moore and Dr. Haki R. Madhubuti. 2-5 p.m. Sat. Fee. 315 E. Warren, Detroit. (313) 494-5800.

3. Bookstock at Laurel Park Place

Get out-of-this-world deals on books and other media and help raise money for literacy and education projects at the annual Bookstock. The pre-sale is 8:15-11 a.m. Sunday, where shoppers get first pick at the best stuff ($20 admission). Sale continues 10 a.m.-9 p.m. through April 29.
