Antietam restaurant to close at the end of March

Art deco marvel Antietam restaurant in Eastern Market will close at the end of March.

“The last 5 years have been a tremendously rewarding experience during the creation and execution of Antietam,” reads a statement posted to social media. “I could not have more respect for my staff and Chef Seth High ... simply incomparable.”

The post explains dinner will be served through March 31 and then the building will be sold this spring.

“At which point Antietam will become a memory. The very reason it was created.”

The hospitality-driven spot debuted in 2014 at a pivotal time for downtown dining, launching the same year as Selden Standard and Wright & Company. Before even opening the restaurant and its owner, photographer Greg Holm, had a article in the New York Times; Holm talked about his journey renovating the building at 1428 Gratiot.

Antietam is open 6-10 p.m. Tues.-Thurs. and 5 p.m-midnight Fri.-Sat. Brunch is served 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Sat.-Sun. Visit antietamdetroit.com for reservations.
