Marcus Samuelsson showcases Detroit on PBS show

Celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson visited Metro Detroit for the series premiere of his PBS show “No Passport Required.” The July 10 episode at 9 p.m. will have him exploring the area’s Middle Eastern communities. He’ll share a home cooked meal with Syrian refugees in Dearborn, cook with pastry chef Lena Sareini of Selden Standard, and attend a 700-person wedding. Produced by Eater, “No Passport Required” is a six-part series that debuts with the Detroit episode on July 10. 

R&B Recording artist Elijah J. helps out at Berkley studio

R&B singer Elijah J. will be in Berkley on Wednesday afternoon to help musicians with physical and mental disabilities at the D-MAN Music Therapy Studio. The Detroit native will work with certified music therapists and music producers at the state-of-the-art studio that helps musicians with severe disabilities. Elijah J., 19, is known as the former lead singer for Mindless Behavior and he also starred as Young Simba in the Disney Broadway production of “The Lion King.” 

Nick Cannon brings 'Wild 'N Out' to LCA

Based on his successful television series, actor Nick Cannon brings "Wild 'N Out Live," on the road this summer, including an Aug. 18 date at Little Caesars Arena. Tickets for the show — which includes Cannon and other cast members playing games and interacting with the audience — start at $35 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. Robert Romanus, the actor best known for his role as Mike Damone in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High," will be at the Royal Oak Farmers Market on Saturday hosting Totally Tito's Awesome ’80s Dance Party, which is also a benefit for local dog rescue groups. Tickets are $20 at the door.
