This year’s Festival brings all your Stars & Stripes favorites back to the grounds of the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, MI.


1. Stars & Stripes Festival at Suburban Collection Showplace: A family-friendly extravaganza of fun, this annual outdoor event has a carnival, rock concerts, monster truck rides, car demolitions, arts and crafts, fireworks and more. Musical headliners are Buckcherry, Lit and Alien Ant Farm (Saturday) and FiftyAmpFuse (Tuesday).  2-11 p.m. Sat.-Tues. and noon-11 p.m. Wed. $1-$5 admission for ages 6 and older. 2. Salute to America at Greenfield Village: A Metro Detroit Independence Day week tradition for 26 years, the Salute to America features the Detroit Symphony Orchestra performing patriotic classics along with the United States Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus. The finale is once again Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture with authentic cannon fire and fireworks. 7:30 p.m. Sat.-Sun. and Tues.-Wed. $30, $22.50 ages 5-11. 20900 Oakwood, Dearborn. (313) 576-5111 or

3. Taylor Summer Festival at Heritage Park: This community festival is peppered with concerts and other attractions such as a carnival, hot air balloon display, a fishing derby and a Saturday night fireworks show. Sat.-Sun. Free admission. Northline and Pardee, Taylor.
