Actor Ed Westwick will not face rape charges

"Gossip Girl" star Ed Westwick will not be charged with rape, according to Los Angeles County prosecutors who decided there's insufficient evidence to bring charges. Westwick, 31, was accused in November of raping two women and sexually assaulting a third in 2014. Actress Kristina Cohen alleged on Facebook the the English actor held her down and raped her at his West Los Angeles home. Her accusation was followed by accusations from actresses Rachel Eck and Aurelie Wynn. Despite cooperation from the women, Page Six reports, prosecutors felt they didn't have the evidence to nail a guilty verdict. 

Detroit arts critic Sarah Rose Sharp wins Rabkin Prize

Detroit writer and critic Sarah Rose Sharp just won a Rabkin Prize in Visual Arts Journalism, which comes with a $50,000 grant from the Dorothea and Leo Rabkin Foundation of Portland, Maine. One of eight writers nationwide to be honored this year, Sharp's name will be familiar to anyone who pays attention to serious arts writing in Detroit. The 2015 Kresge Literary Arts Fellow publishes frequently in local and national publications, including Essay'd, infinite mile, Hyperallergic and Art in America. 

Guest list guesses for Chopra-Jonas nuptials

The sudden news that Indian actress and producer Priyanka Chopra, 36, is engaged to singer-songwriter Nick Jonas, 25, immediately raised the question among Hollywood's gossip-mongers: Will Meghan Markle and Prince Harry attend the Chopra-Jonas wedding? After all Chopra, the 2000 Miss World winner, attended the May 19 royal wedding. According to People, she and the soon-to-be Duchess of Sussex originally met in 2016 at an ELLE Women in Television dinner where they bonded "like two girls would," according to Chopra. She and Jonas just started dating two months ago. 

Bobby Brown denies ever hitting Whitney 

Buzzfeed reports that former New Edition wunderkind Bobby Brown denied Friday that he ever hit former wife Whitney Houston, who died in 2012, despite ample physical evidence and a 911 call that confirmed the assault. "There was no violent incidents between me and Whitney," Brown said in answer to a reporter's question at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, where he was promoting BET's "The Bobby Brown Story," a three-episode series on his life and career, from boy-band New Edition to a solo career in 1986. When the reporter insisted there was proof of 911 calls, Brown responded, "No there wasn't (any 911 calls). You're mistaken. You're completely wrong. You're completely wrong."
