Aretha's ex-husband Glynn Turman talks about meeting her on Tom Joyner

Stage and screen actor Glynn Turman called into the Tom Joyner Morning Show on Monday and shared his story of the first time he met Aretha Franklin. Turman, 71, was backstage at a Ben Vereen concert and Franklin's son Clarence Franklin came up to him and said his mother "just loves you." Turman fondly recalled walking into her dressing room where she was sitting at the vanity mirror wearing a white dress and pearls. She saw him in the mirror, and Turman said they both let out a "cute little scream" when they saw each other. Franklin was interested in getting into acting, which Turman taught, so she showed up at one of his classes in a limousine and fur coat ... in Los Angeles. "I said to her 'you're late,' " he said. Turman, who was married to the Queen of Soul from 1979 to 1984, said her nickname for was him "stinky."
