Grapevine: Clooney tops Forbes' list of highest-paid actors
Clooney tops Forbes list
George Clooney is the highest-paid actor, according to Forbes’ annual list, which ranks pre-tax paychecks in a 12-month period. From June 1, 2017, to June 1, 2018, Clooney made $239 million, but not from acting. A large chunk of that was due to the $1 billion purchase of his Casamigos Tequila brand by liquor conglomerate Diageo. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson came in second on the highest-paid actors list with $125 million. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth and Jackie Chan (China’s top movie star) round out the top five. The world’s 10 highest-paid actors’ salaries for one year totaled a combined $748.5 million. The top 10 actresses together made just $186 million for the same period. This year's highest-paid actress was Scarlett Johansson with $40.5 million.

The letter cites the Lanham Act, which prohibits “any false designation or misleading description or representation of fact … likely to cause confusion … as to the affiliation, connection, or association of such person with another person,” Yahoo! reports. This has come up before in 2015 when then candidate Trump used the song "Dream On."
