If you're at loose ends Saturday, head over to the west side and drop in on the Detroit Repertory Theatre's Free Summer Arts & Culture Festival.

Now in its second year, the festival -- in partnership with Dream of Detroit, HUDA Clinic, the Muslim Center and HUG Community Garden -- celebrates the arts, neighborhood revitalization and the power of diversity in Detroit.

The fun happens on Woodrow Wilson, which will be closed from Buena Vista to Tyler.

Youth drum line Roar and Thunder will kick things off at 10 a.m. with a procession from Avalon Village to the theater.

Two outdoor stages will host a range of live entertainment including the children's play "OH Possum's Tale" at 11 a.m., and performances by CutTime Simfonica at 1 p.m. and Gabriel Brass Band at 3 p.m.

Detroit Imagination Works will present interactive art fun for kids early in the day, and WRENCH Detroit will hold a bike-repair workshop. Feel free to bring your bike for repair or to donate.

And appropriately for an event sponsored by the Detroit Rep, young aspiring authors will want to attend the Playwriting Workshop at noon with the Detroit Playwrights' Lab inside the theater on the main stage.
