Time names Detroit Foundation Hotel one of 'World's Greatest Places'
A colorful modern art museum in Jakarta, a four-dimensional dining experience in Shanghai and ... a hotel in Detroit? These are among Time Magazine's 100 Greatest Places 2018.
The Detroit Foundation Hotel is "proof that Detroit is bouncing back," wrote Time's Samantha Cooney. She briefly quoted developer Michael Kitchen who said "This is a great American city ... and we don't let American cities die."
It's the only destination in Michigan on Time's list.
Detroit Foundation Hotel, which opened in May 2017 in a former fire station at 250 W. Larned in Detroit, was also named one of the 100 best new hotels in the world by luxury and lifestyle travel magazine Condé Nast Travel earlier this spring.
The hotel is home to the Apparatus Room restaurant, helmed by award-winning chef Thomas Lents.
