Harry Connick Jr. visits Detroit Friday for cancer-awareness event
Crooner Harry Connick Jr. and his wife, Jill Connick, will be in town Friday evening appearing on stage at the Garden Theater. The free event is "The New 50," a colon cancer awareness program hosted by Fox 2's Jay Towers. Connick won't be singing at the event, but he is expected to rally adults over 50 to get screened for colon cancer and will discuss modern, noninvasive options. "The New 50" also has educational exhibits, snacks, prizes and a chance to win a meet-and-greet with the Connicks. The Garden Theater is at 3929 Woodward and the event is 6-8 p.m. Friday.
Millie Bobby Brown and rapper Drake are friends
"Stranger Things" actress Millie Bobby Brown and rapper Drake are friends, and some people find their relationship strange. Brown, 14, told "Access Hollywood" that she loves Drake. “I met him in Australia, and he’s honestly so fantastic — a great friend and a great role model," she said. "We just texted each other the other day, and he was like, ‘I miss you so much,’ and I was like, ‘I miss you more.’” She said Drake, 31, gives her advice about boys but wouldn't reveal specifics. The Twitterverse wasn't having this, and some called the relationship creepy and said Drake was exhibiting predatory behavior. Journalist Jay Scott Smith weighed in, saying "I can’t think of too many reasons a man north of 30 should be texting a teenager."
