GQ names Serena Williams 'Woman of the Year'

GQ magazine has released its picks for its annual "Men of the Year" issue, and for the second time they've included a woman. Sports superstar Serena Williams will grace one of four covers of the publications December/January issue as "Woman of the Year." This year's "Men of the Year" are Jonah Hill,Michael B. Jordan and Henry Golding. The four covers were released Monday, but Williams' interview won't be published until Thursday. In 2017 GQ named "Wonder Woman" actress Gal Gadot as part of their MOTY coverage. 

Celebrities lose homes in California wildfires

Miley CyrusGerard Butler, Robin Thicke and Camille Grammer are among the many celebrities whose homes were severely damaged or destroyed in the California wildfires. The Associated Press reports that Orlando Bloom, Alyssa Milano, Lady Gaga, “The Office” actor Rainn Wilson and fashion designer Donna Karan were also among evacuees. The homes of some have been spared, but others are still waiting to find out.  “Stay safe, California — and keep those prayers coming America,” Wilson wrote on Twitter. Milano said her house is “still in jeopardy” as strong winds kicked up again Sunday.

Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson returns to Fox Theatre

Astrophysicist and author Dr. Neil deGrasse Tysonreturns to Detroit for an appearance at the Fox Theatre May 20. For this tour, titled "An Astrophysicist Goes to the Movies," Tyson will discuss all the things that your favorite movies (both classic and new) got wrong when it comes to science, as well as some things that are scientifically correct.
