Big 3: Top events in Metro Detroit Saturday and Sunday

1. DIY Street Fair and Funky Ferndale Art Fair: Two eclectic street fairs will take over Nine Mile on either side of Woodward. DIY is known for handmade vendors and live music. Tonight's headliner is venerable Detroit garage rock trio the Gories, and Celtic punk group Stone Clover headline on Sunday. West of Woodward the Funky Ferndale juried art show also runs through Sunday. Admission for both events are free. DIY is 11 a.m.-midnight Sat. and 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Sun. Visit ferndalediy.com. Berry Gordy Jr. smiles at the launch of "Motown The Musical" in central London on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, building on a legacy of creating the largest black-owned company in America in the 1960s. Motown Records moved to Los Angeles in 1972, and Gordy sold the company to MCA in 1988.  Since then, he's been a film and TV producer, writer and song publisher.

2. Parktoberfest at Beacon Park: Get into the fall spirit with this two-day, outdoor Oktoberfest celebration. Besides loads of craft beer from Griffin Claw Brewing Company, there will be live music, food trucks, a stein-hoisting contest and other games, plus fun for little ones. Noon Sat.-Sun. 3. Hitsville Honors at Orchestra Hall at the Max: Part of the Motown 60 celebration, this gala will be a tribute to the label and will honor Berry Gordy Jr., who is expected to be in attendance. The Temptations, Four Tops and Martha Reeves will perform Motown hits, and KEM, Big Sean and others are also on board. 7:30-10 p.m. Sun. $50-$150. 3711 Woodward, Detroit. dso.org.
