Motown Museum launches AMPLIFY singing competition

Would-be singing stars will have another shot at the Motown Museum's AMPLIFY: The Sound of Detroit competition series, and can submit audition tapes through Oct. 17. 

The contest is open to individual singers or groups up to five. Audition videos to try to make it into the semi-finals can't be longer than 3 minutes.

The semi-finals will take place Oct. 3, 10, 17 and 24 from 8-10 p.m. at the Detroit Institute of Music Education (DIME) located at 1265 Griswold in Detroit. Tickets to the event are $10, but $5 for students and museum members. 

The Motown Museum on W. Grand Boulevard in Detroit's New Center area.

Judges will pick a total of eight finalists who will move on to the Nov. 15 grand finale at Detroit's Garden Theatre.

The winner or winners will get $2,500 cash, as well as a studio session with AMPLIFY producers. You must be 16 to enter.
