It may be 60 degrees in Detroit this week, but that’s not stopping the annual Winter Blast party from coming to Campus Martius this season.

The outdoor event, now in its 12 year, is officially titled Meridian Winter Blast presented by Quicken Loans, and is scheduled for Feb. 12-14. Hours are 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Feb. 12-13 and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Feb. 14.

Two major attractions will return with the event: the 200-foot snow slide and the 300-foot zip line down Woodward.

Meridian is also sponsoring a “Taste of Detroit” food tent. The offerings will span the culinary gamut from Hamtramck pop-up spot Revolver to barbeque from Famous Dave’s. Metro Detroit restaurants Andiamo, Detroit Seafood Market, Hudson Cafe, El Barzon, El Asador, Slow’s To Go, Red Crown and La Dolce Vita are also in the mix.

The snow-filled family-friendly party will team up with Big Brothers Big Sisters to offer free activities for more than 250 area volunteers and the children they mentor.

Admission is $2, or free with three canned food items or one children’s book. People younger than 18 must be with a parent after 5 p.m.

According to organizers the Winter Blast, which was created in 2005 to compliment Super Bowl XL, attracted more than 75,000 people in 2015.
