A link of Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken chain is set to land in the Cass Corridor in June.

The casual Memphis-based restaurant started in the 1950s and has grown to locations in seven states. It’s rapidly growing to include restaurants outside of the south, including Detroit, Philadelphia and Los Angeles.

The Detroit spot will be located at 4101 Third Street at W. Alexandrine, around the block from acclaimed fine-dining restaurant Selden Standard. Gus’s is being brought to town by chef and restaurateur Zack Sklar’s new Schmaltz Hospitality group. Sklar also owns Peas & Carrots Hospitality group, which also operates Birmingham restaurants Au Cochon, Arthur Avenue, Social Kitchen and others.

Besides the obvious, Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken, serves southern-style sides like macaroni and cheese, cole slaw, greens, beans and potato salad.
