An American-style bistro is being planned for the first floor of the northwest corner of the Scott at Brush Park. The luxury five-story apartment complex is expected to be finished before the end of the year.

Restaurateur Michael Abrams says he hasn’t worked out any details of his new venture yet, but wanted to start with the location and go from there.

“We don’t have a concept, we don’t have a name, we just have a lease,” says Abrams, who also owns 30 Five Guys Burgers and Fries restaurants as well as Mr. Joe’s in Southfield. “I like the location so much, I figured I can come up with everything after. I just wanted to lock up the location.”

Abrams liked the Midtown building so much he also rented one of the residential units for his family. According to, the units at Scott at Brush Park range from around $950 to $2,900.

“It’s really great down there,” says Abrams of the recent developments. “I’m 58 years old and this is not like anything I’ve ever seen in Detroit.”

The bistro will be on the ground floor of the Scott. Abrams says it’ll cover about 4,500 square feet. He says he’ll have a concept ready in 4-6 weeks.
