Fresh crops from local growers are coming in now to the more than 50 farmers markets in southeast Michigan:
Vegetables in season
Beans and corn are plentiful and good deals are out there to be had. Also, beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, cucumbers, greens, eggplant, lettuce, mushrooms, onions, peas, peppers, potatoes, radishes, spinach, summer squash (zucchini), tomatoes and turnips.
Local fruits in season
Some varieties of apples, apricots, blackberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, melons, peaches, pears,and plums
Past the Michigan season
Asparagus, celery, cherries, sweet peas, rhubarb, strawberries
Grapes, nectarines, parsnips, pumpkins, red raspberries, rutabagas and winter squash
