Southwest Detroit launches Restaurant Week Oct. 5-14
Detroiters know that Midtown and Corktown are dining hot spots, but Southwest Detroit is often overlooked when thinking about where to eat. Southwest Detroit Restaurant Week, kicking off Friday and running through Oct. 14, will help to change that.
The inaugural dining promotion aims to get customers to try new foods and enjoy the cuisine of Southwest Detroit that includes not only food from a variety of regions of Mexican, but also the flavors of Honduras, Dominican Republic and elsewhere.
“Southwest Detroit is well known for its incredible line-up of authentic and reasonably-priced restaurants, making our very own restaurant week a tremendous sense of pride for our community,” said organizer Monica Casarez in a press release.
Pricing and menus will vary from restaurant to restaurant, but diners can expect handmade arepas from El Rey de Las Arepas, empanadas and mofongo from El Caribeño and pupusas from Antojitos El Catracho. Others of the 17 participating businesses include El Asador, Armando’s Mexican Restaurant, Taqueria El Nacimiento, El Salpicon and more.
