Savant Midtown, a new Detroit restaurant, is celebrating its debut with a grand opening party and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. Tuesday. 

The party includes what they're calling "caviar bumps," a little dollop of caviar on each customer's hand with a bit of edible gold leaf. Each person will also get a small glass of French champagne. 

On Tuesday, the food menu will be half price. 

This sets the tone for Savant, which first opened late last week at 51 W. Forest in Detroit. It's where Bolero Latin cuisine restaurant was for less than two years before closing this summer. 

Savant is run by chef Jordan Whitmore and bartender Rebecca Wurster. The young team (both are 28) is formerly of the Apparatus Room restaurant inside the Foundation Detroit Hotel. 

Art-filled Savant will served dinner and drinks, with a focus on molecular cocktails (think gels, foams and other unique components). Some of the French-inspired menu items are a foie gras eclair, breakfast burger, ratatouille and a croque monsieur. Lunch service will be added at a later date. 

Savant Midtown's hours are 5 p.m.-midnight Tues.-Thurs., 5 p.m.-1 a.m. Fri.-Sat. and 5-11 p.m. Sun. Reservations can be made via the HostMe app. Visit savantmidtown.com or call (313) 285-9294.
