Bon Bon Bon to open Midtown location with dog treats, later hours
The middle of Midtown will get even sweeter next month with the opening of a new Bon Bon Bon showroom.
The gourmet Detroit confectionery revealed that its third location will debut Oct. 8 at 441 W. Canfield, right near Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria & Brewery and Third Man Records.
The company, which was founded in Hamtramck in 2014 by artisan chocolatier Alexandra Clark, makes tiny French-inspired confections — crafted by employees known as the Babes, Babes, Babes — that showcase both traditional dessert flavors and out-there stuff like Cheetos, black truffle and even vegan bites.
With this new venture, Bon Bon Bon will show off an updated look and some new products, including a line of dog-friendly Bones Bones Bones (the Midtown location is next to a dog park). These treats will look similar to the adult bonbons, will use quality ingredients and will have a charity component to help support local animal rescues.
Bon Bon Bon has teamed up with illustrator Michael Eugene Burdick to create "bubbly and fun brand elements." The chocolate company also enlisted a variety of other creatives to make the new store pop.
In a press release titled "bon-jour Midtown," Clark says she's excited for the contribution this new showroom will make to the workforce.
"It means hiring, training and supporting more good jobs for good people in our communities and those of our cacao farmers and maker partners across the state and around the world," she said.
The Midtown location will stay open later than its storefronts in Hamtramck and in downtown Detroit to capture the after-dinner crowd looking for a sugary bite. Once open on Oct. 8 the hours will be 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Mon.-Thurs., 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Fri.-. Sat. and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sun.
