Searching for more "simplicity," the owners of Gather restaurant in Eastern Market announced on social media that this week would be their last.

Both the intimate, neighborhood restaurant and the bar upstairs, Cøllect, will close after Thursday's service, owners Kyle and Lea Hunt said in a statement issued Tuesday.

"We've decided to sell the business to focus on family and simplicity," the post read. "This week is bittersweet, and we cannot thank all of you enough for all of the support the last couple years."

The Hunts opened the restaurant in spring of 2017 and were joined by chef Jessi Patuano later that same year. Gather was known for market-fresh ingredients and communal seating.

Gather, 1454 Gratiot in Detroit, is open 4-10 p.m. through Thursday. Call (586) 850-0205.
