Detroit comedian Tiffany Barber is a woman of many trades.

Known as T. Barb, she's a stand-up comedian and host for public and private events, as well as a charismatic vegan chef with her online persona Hoodrat Kitchen. She combines both her comedy and chef worlds with her event series Chef Wars, where two culinary experts to toe-to-toe to win over a panel of judges.

The second installment of Chef Wars is Sunday in Southfield. Barber has brought in chef and comedy writer Mike Larsen as her opponent. They'll each prepare a signature three-course meal before the judges. The theme is Italian cuisine; Larsen will cook with meat and Barber will offer plant-based courses, giving the comics plenty to roast each other about.

"Mike Larsen is a self-proclaimed chef and Hollywood writer ... who also has a farm and says he can beat me," said Barber, who is ready for the challenge.

She says the event, at a production studio, is "an explosion of flavors, covering both carnivorous and vegan palates." Besides being a competition, it's also a cooking demonstration. Both comics are supposed to give step-by-step instructions so the audience can learn how  to create their dish.

"It's a funny and exciting culinary experience that teaches everyday people how to eat better," she said.

The audience will get samples as well. Tickets are $15, and for an extra $10, attendees can get   the  three-course meal from either Larson or Barber. There are wine pairing options, too.

Chef Wars is 5-8 p.m. Sunday at 21300 Hilltop in Southfield. Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite.com or tbarbisfunny.com

T.Barb is also part of an upcoming comedy show at the Paul Robeson Theatre in Detroit on Oct. 25. The 8-11 p.m. show, which is being recorded for an upcoming Amazon Prime series, also includes comedians Tatoo Man Paige, Black Barry, J-Boy, Roni Shanel, Faygo Red and Toy Too-Tal. Call (248) 677-1687 or search Eventbrite.com for tickets.
