One sector of Metro Detroit's restaurant industry is growing rapidly despite the pandemic — or possibly because of it.

Fast-casual brands that offer online or in-app ordering and focus on carryout more than dine-in service are multiplying not only throughout Metro Detroit, but the entire Lower Peninsula and other states. It's part of a nationwide trend. The fast-casual market is reportedly expected to grow $150.1 billion between 2019 and 2024.
