Winter is waning, spring is creeping in, and for beer lovers in Michigan, that means KBS Week is here.

Bottles of the beloved imperial coffee chocolate stout from Founders can be purchased in advance online at kbsweek.com. They’re sold in groups of three four-packs of 12 ounce bottles and one 750 ml bottle for $92. The bottles are sold out for the Grand Rapids brewery and taproom, but still available for new location at 456 Charlotte in Detroit.

Both taprooms are hosting a KBS release party Saturday, March 10. There’s no cover and it’s first come, first served.

KBS will be available at craft beer bars around town starting Monday, since KBS week is March 5-10. Get the bourbon barrel-aged craft beer on tap at the HopCat Ann Arbor for a 5:30 p.m. tapping. Dan’s Downtown Tavern in Saline will tap it at 7 p.m. Monday.

On Tuesday Clubhouse BFD in Rochester Hills will have it at 5:30 p.m. and the Rochester Tap Room will tap at 7 p.m.

In Detroit, Slows Bar BQ taps at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. They’ll also have CBS – Canadian Breakfast Stout – which will debut at 6 p.m. In Greektown, Firebird Tavern will tap KBS at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Thursday’s tappings are at 5:30 p.m. at World of Beer Canton and 7 p.m. at Hermann’s Olde Town Grille in Plymouth. Friday find it at Hopcat Royal Oak starting at 5:30 p.m. and the nearby Lockhart’s BBQ at 7 p.m.

Available March and April, 2018 KBS has an alcohol by volume of 12.3 percent, and has a perfect score of 100 on RateBeer.
