Native Detroiter Bill Morris, author of “Motor City Burning,” will appear at the Baldwin Public Library in Birmingham at 2 p.m. to speak and sign books. Morris, who attended Brother Rice High School, is a staff writer with the online literary magazine the Millions and lives in New York. His novel is set during the turmoil of the Detroit riots of 1967, and follows the story of a disillusioned black civil rights activist who has fled to Detroit from the South during that eventful summer.
