Movement lineup expands with new acts, presentations
The talent roster for this year’s Movement festival nearly doubles with Wednesday’s second phase lineup announcement, unveiled by Movement organizers Paxahau Events.
Joining the festival, May 23-25 at Detroit’s Hart Plaza, are more than 65 acts, including Squarepusher, Method Man, Hudson Mohawke, Josh Wink and Juan Atkins’ Model 500.
The Atkins performance is one of several that will shine a light on Detroit techno artists and their lasting contributions to the genre. Atkins’ performance will double as a celebration of the 30th anniversary of his Metroplex Records, and will include appearances by several of his collaborators and colleagues.
In addition, Kevin Saunderson will present his Origins series, recognizing the past, present and future of Detroit techno, while Carl Craig and “Mad” Mike Banks will perform together as part of Craig’s “Detroit Love” series. Ann Arbor’s Ghostly International will also celebrate its roots on what is being dubbed Ghostly International Day.
Tickets for this year’s Movement festival, $150, are available now through movement.us. VIP tickets are available for $260.
