Van Halen is back on the road this summer — with David Lee Roth in the driver's seat -- and will hit DTE Energy Music Theatre Sept. 4, promoters announced Tuesday.

Ticket information, including prices and on-sale date, is expected soon.

Van Halen's last area concert was in February 2012 at the Palace of Auburn Hills. The show was a part of the tour behind "A Different Kind of Truth," Van Halen's first album with Roth at the helm in nearly 30 years, though the tour fell apart shortly after the Palace show. This summer's run of dates, which kick off July 5 in Seattle, is the band's first slate of shows since that aborted tour.
