Controversial R&B superstar R. Kelly is the latest artist to line up a concert at Detroit’s West Riverfront Park.

The “Ignition” singer will perform at the riverfront property on May 29, promoters announced Wednesday. Tickets for the show, $39 for general admission lawn and $79, $129 and $150 for reserved seats, go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday via Ticketmaster and at the Fox Theatre and Joe Louis Arena box offices. Tickets can be charged by phone at (800) 745-3000.

West Riverfront Park, located along the Detroit Riverfront west of Joe Louis Arena and the Riverfront Apartments, is kicking into high gear this year by hosting the Downtown Hoedown June 5-6, Jimmy Buffett June 25 and the Mo Pop Festival July 25-26. The park held its first concert last summer with Detroit R&B singer Kem’s annual Mack and Third benefit.

Kelly will be joined at the date by opening act Chrisette Michele.
