Long-dormant R&B star D'Angelo made a surprise return in December with "Black Messiah," his first album in 14 years, and now he's backing the album with a tour that will make its way to Metro Detroit.

D'Angelo will play Royal Oak Music Theatre on June 27, the singer's camp announced Monday. Ticket information, including prices and on-sale date, is TBA.

The Royal Oak show is the second-to-last performance on the trek, which kicks off June 7 in Oakland and includes a stop at the Bonaroo Music and Arts Festival.

"Black Messiah" was surprise-released in December and debuted at No. 5 on Billboard's Top 200 albums chart after selling 117,000 copies its first week.
