The opening of the pressing plant at the Cass Corridor’s Third Man Records facility will feature guided tours, live performances and sales of special edition vinyl pressed on-site, Third Man announced Thursday.

The free event on Feb. 25 will include live performances by the Mummies, the Oblivians and the Craig Brown Band.

Limited edition releases by the White Stripes, the Stooges, MC5, Derrick May, Carl Craig and more will be available at the event, each in special colors and exclusive packaging.

Guided tours of the facility are available from 12 p.m.-3 p.m. on opening day, but tickets, $20, were sold out as of Thursday afternoon.

Third Man Pressing opens at 10 a.m. on Feb. 25, with live music starting at 2:30 p.m.

The pressing plant will become one of about 20 vinyl pressing plants in the United States and a few dozen in the world. The site will press vinyl for Third Man Records and other labels, and will bring with it about 50 jobs.
