Gorillaz announce September Fox Theatre concert
The group’s first Detroit concert in seven years follows this month’s release of ‘Humanz’
The humans behind the animated band Gorillaz will perform at Detroit’s Fox Theatre on Sept. 18, tour officials announced Monday.
Tickets for the show go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday; prices are tickets: $53.75 and $79.25, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.
The show is the part of the group’s tour behind its forthcoming fifth album, “Humanz,” due out April 28.
The new album features Gorillaz mastermind Damon Albarn and a typically diverse group of guests, including Danny Brown, De la Soul, Mavis Staples, Vince Staples, Pusha T and Grace Jones. All collaborators are being teased as possible guests on the group’s tour, which includes festival, arena and theater dates beginning in the summer and winding through fall.
Gorillaz’ last local concert was an ambitious, ear-bending Oct. 2010 engagement at the Fox.
