Jack White announces April date at Little Caesars Arena
Twenty one years after the White Stripes made their debut a half-mile away at the now defunct Gold Dollar, Jack White will play his first-ever arena concert in Detroit when he kicks off his latest tour on April 19 at Little Caesars Arena.
The tour comes on the heels of White’s third solo album, “Boarding House Reach,” due out March 23. In addition to the show at Little Ceasars, White’s tour includes headlining dates at the Governors Ball, Shaky Knees, and Boston Calling music festivals, and an April 21 date at 20 Monroe Live in Grand Rapids.
Tickets for the Little Caesars Arena and 20 Monroe Live concerts go on sale at 10 a.m. on Jan. 26. Members of White’s Third Man Records Vault program will have access to pre-sale tickets beginning at 10 a.m. Jan. 22. Fans will also have an opportunity for pre-sale tickets through Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program, registration for which is available at http://jackwhite.tmverifiedfan.com/.
Each ticket purchased includes a copy of “Boarding House Reach” on CD; vinyl fans will have an opportunity to upgrade for an LP copy.
White’s 37-date tour includes dates in London, Amsterdam and Paris, and wraps on Aug. 23 in Las Vegas. It consists of arena, amphitheatre and theater dates — even a brewery! — and include some of White’s biggest-ever non-festival shows. The White Stripes never toured arenas in the U.S., though the band did play Madison Square Garden in 2007 before disbanding in 2011.
There is an opening in White’s tour schedule the weekend of Aug. 2-5 and there is no announced Chicago date, so it stands to reason White will be one of Lollapalooza’s headliners when that lineup is unveiled.
White’s last Detroit performances were in July 2014 when he performed at the Masonic Temple and the Fox Theatre.
“Boarding House Reach” was previewed last week by the release of two singles, “Connected by Love” and “Respect Commander.”
