Line up: Dr. Prof. Leonard King, drums; Alex Harding, baritone saxophone; Rocco Popielarski, bass; Vincent Chandler, trombone and vocals. 

About: Focusing on the music of Detroit composers such as Kenn Cox and Charles Moore, Quartet Now! Performs soul and jazz music that reflects Detroit’s scene in the 1960s and '70s. 

Next: Quartet Now! Will celebrate a self-titled release on a new record label, Two Rooms Records, which is a collaboration between Trinosphones’ Joel Peterson and Michigan Underground Group’s Sam Hooker. The label launch party is at 8 p.m. Saturday at Trinosophes, 1464 Gratiot in Detroit. In addition to “Quartet Now!” the label is releasing “7000 Year Plan” by Viands (a project featuring Peterson and David Shettler) and “Your Letter Must Have Followed Me All Over the World” from Bay-Area piano virtuoso Thollem.
