Avenged Sevenfold cancel tour due to vocal issues
The band has scrapped its North American tour, including an upcoming date at DTE Energy Music Theatre
Bad news for those hoping to catch Avenged Sevenfold on the band's summer tour: the metal act has 86'd its current tour, due to lead singer M Shadows' vocal issues.
Following the band's recent dates in Europe, Shadows contracted a viral infection that rendered him voiceless. He tried vocal rest and various medications, but the situation only worsened.
"In short, I can’t sing anything at the moment and the more I attempt to the more damage is being done," Shadows wrote in a note to fans, posted Friday. "Unfortunately, this means we will have to cancel all tour dates at the moment."
Among the affected shows is an Aug. 7 date at DTE Energy Music Theatre.
Refunds are available at the point of purchase.
Shadows is hopeful that three months of vocal rest will get his voice back on track.
"Just know that I have exhausted every possible solution in trying to get out there and perform for you," he wrote. "It just simply can’t happen at the moment."
