Michigan rock legend Bob Seger will be honored Friday with the reveal of Bob Seger Boulevard in Allen Park.

The effort to celebrate the classic rocker with a road in his name was a six-month campaign by Big Jim's House Morning Show on WCSX-FM (94.7).

The new Bob Seger Boulevard was a previously unnamed street between Southfield and Philomene near the Allen Park City Hall.

Friday at 6 p.m., the radio station and the City of Allen Park will host an unveiling ceremony with a celebration starting at 4 p.m. A Bob Seger tribute band will play and there will be a video with fans and celebrities congratulating him. Look for the stage set up at Allen Park City Hall, 15915 Southfield.

The campaign, which was promoted with a 24-hour Seger marathon on air, started in May and was originally trying to get a street in Ann Arbor named after the singer, who attended high school there.

Bob Seger plays the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids on Nov. 21 and Jan. 5 and the Huntington Center in Toledo on Jan. 9. No Metro Detroit dates have been announced for what he says is his final tour.
