Name: Waajeed

About: This Detroit native, producer and DJ is considered genre-bending, and has collaborated with electronic and hip-hop artists like Theo Parish, Amp Fiddler, Invincible and the late J Dilla. In the past few months he's performed in New York City, Detroit, the United Kingdom and Europe. Thursday night he's got a show in Los Angeles at the 1720 event space. 

Pure Michigan: Waajeed is one of many Michigan-based artists on the upcoming "Pure Sounds of Michigan" compilation album. His track "The Rock (Bridge to a New Day)" closes out the ambient collection, which also features Dave Graw, Windy & Carl, Eddie Logix and others. A collaboration with Assemble Sound, "Pure Sounds of Michigan" comes out May 22.
