Name: Marbrisa 

History: This singer and songwriter started her musical journey in Latin America but now calls Detroit home. She was nominated for a Detroit Music Award in 2017 in the World Music category.

Sound: She writes music that blends Latin, jazz, funk and folk. Her eight-piece backing ensemble has a small horn section. 

Next: Marbrisa celebrates the release of her debut studio album, "Ciclos," Friday night at Otus Supply's Parliament Room, 345 E. Nine Mile in Ferndale. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and the show starts at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $10-$20 and can be purchased in advance at Keep in mind the outdoor DIY Street Fair will be happening, closing off E. Nine Mile just west of Otus Supply.
