Grapevine: Zellweger defends new look
Zellweger: ‘I’m glad folks think I look different’
The Internet went bonkers this week and was flooded with dozens of news articles and comments after actress Renee Zellweger appeared on the red carpet with a fresh-faced appearance. Many thought she must have had plastic surgery because the “Bridget Jones” actress looked noticeably different. Zellweger, who has not had a film credit since 2010, told People magazine, “People don’t know me in my 40s.” She wrote in a statement to People that she’s glad folks think she looks different, and that she’s been “healthy for a while.” “Perhaps I look different. Who doesn’t as they get older?! Ha. But I am different. I’m happy.”
JLo to get Vegas residency
Jennifer Lopez is about to ink a deal with Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, TMZ reports. She’s being offered $350,000 per show for 72 dates at the Axis theater, the same place Britney Spears has an ongoing gig. While Brit makes a bit less per show, her contract is for more performances (96 shows at $310,000 each). Still, as TMZ points out, neither of them make as much as Celine Dion, who gets $33.3 million for 70 shows a year.
Sarah Jessica Parker shoe shoot irks neighbors
To promote her line of footwear, actress Sarah Jessica Parker did a photo shoot in front of the New York City apartment made famous because her “Sex and the City” character lived there. The steps that lead to the apartment where Carrie Bradshaw lived are guarded with a chain warning tourists to keep off, but that didn’t stop Parker. A rep for the Perry Street Association said neighbors weren’t happy about it. “I heard about the shoot,” said president Gerald Banu. “They didn’t get the permission from the owner. The situation with SATC visitors is still very intense. People who live here are upset that the sidewalks are constantly jammed.”
■“Goodfellas” actor Frank Sivero is suing FOX for $250 million because he says “The Simpsons” ripped off his performance of Frankie Carbone with their cartoon character of Louie, a member of Springfield’s mafia. The Sicily-born actor also played Genco Abbandando in “The Godfather Part II.”
■Actors Taran Killam (“Saturday Night Live”) and Cobie Smulders (“How I Met Your Mother”) are expecting a second child, People magazine reports.
■Musician Tyson Stevens was found dead this week, Alternative Press reports. The 29-year-old was the singer for the band Scary Kids Scaring Kids.
