A New York City ice cream shop has debuted a flavor of ice cream to honor Detroit rapper Eminem. Mikey Likes It Ice Cream, a pop culture-inspired ice cream shop, says the new flavor is named after Em's album, "Shady XV" in collaboration with Tuesday's release. The frosty treat is made with Michigan cherries, Sanders hot fudge and Vernors ginger ale. Yum!
Katy Perry confirms Super Bowl halftime performance
"Birthday" singer Katy Perry is confirmed as the headliner for the 2015 Super Bowl, the NFL announced Sunday. The pop star says she has some big ideas planned, including showering the stadium in edible glitter.
Jimmy Howard to play for Arthritis Foundation
Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard will donate $50 to the Arthritis Foundation for every save he makes during the Dec. 6 game against the New York Rangers. The funds will benefit the foundation's Camp Dakota, a medically supervised residential camp for children with arthritis. Howard is the chairman of the 2014 Detroit Jingle Bell Run/Walk, which is 9 a.m. Dec. 6 in downtown Detroit. Visit arthritis.org/JBR for information.
Alex from Target to visit Royal Oak
The Internet star of the month, Alex Lee — better known as Alex from Target — will greet fans 1-4 p.m. Saturday at the Emagine Theater in Royal Oak. A photo of the comely 16-year-old from Texas went viral this month. The tag #alexfromtarget caught on and Lee went from 144 Twitter followers to more than one million, plus 2.4 million followers on Instagram.
