Actor Daniel Von Bargen dies

His name may not ring a bell, but actor Daniel VonBargen's face will surely seem familiar to even the most casual film and television viewer. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native died at age 64 over the weekend after a long illness. He had roles on TV shows such as "Seinfeld" (Mr. Kruger) and "Malcolm in the Middle" (Commandant Edwin Spangler). He had small parts in many of the most popular films of the 1990s, including "Basic Instinct," "Philadelphia," "Crimson Tide," "Broken Arrow" and "Amistad." He also played the sheriff with the dark glasses and hound dogs in "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"

Shania Twain returns to town after more than a decade

Country crossover star Shania Twain will return to Metro Detroit in concert for the first time in more than a decade. The singer's "Rock This Country" tour comes to the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids on July 11 and The Palace of Auburn Hills July 25. Tickets, $46-$136, go on sale March 13. The "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under" singer was last in the area in 2003 when she did a two-night stand at The Palace. She's been enjoying a Las Vegas residency the past couple years.

Leonardo DiCaprio teams up with Netflix

Academy Award-nominated actor Leonardo DiCaprio is partnering with production company Appain Way and Netflix to produce documentaries and nonfiction projects with environmental and conservation themes. DiCaprio will serve as producer or executive producer on these films, which will air exclusively on Netflix.

Usher and Missy Elliott have been added to the lineup for the 2015 Essence Festival, which takes place Fourth of July weekend at New Orleans' Mercedes-Benz Superdome. They join previously announced acts Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, Kevin Hart, Common, India.Arie and more.

■In other music festival news, the CMA Music Festival in downtown Nashville in June will be headlined by Jason Aldean, Dierks Bently, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Alan Jackson, Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban and others.

■TMZ has spilled the beans: Chris Brown is a father. According to the gossip website, Brown has a 9-month-old baby girl with a former model named Nia. TMZ reports that mom and dad are on good terms, but are no longer romantic.
