Bobby Brown says Bobbi Kristina is “awake,” Whitney’s family says no
Singer Bobby Brown told a Dallas audience during his concert Saturday night that Bobbi Kristina was “awake.” The 22-year-old (who is the daughter of Brown and the late Whitney Houston) had been in a medically induced coma since she was found unresponsive in a bathtub in late January. Bobby’s sister Tina Brown also took to Facebook on Sunday and said, “Yes, she woke up and is no longer on life support.” No official statement has been made by Bobby Brown, yet. TMZ reported Monday that Whitney Houston’s family says that what the Browns are saying is untrue. According to TMZ, someone from the Houston family said Bobbi Kristina is in the same condition and is still on a ventilator.
Ariana Grande and Big Sean split
Pop star Ariana Grande and Detroit rapper Big Sean have broken up after eight months of dating. Their reps confirmed the news to Us Weekly, saying the “both deeply care for each other and remain close friends.”
Jena Irene signs to Detroit label
American Idol” runner-up Jena Irene Asciutto has signed with local record label 1265 Recordings. The label also represents Detroit artist MPV and Charity, plus indie folk band Wildflowers from England. Asciutto, a Farmington Hills native, is currently recording her debut album at Studio A in Dearborn.
■Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx will release a full-length album “Hollywood” on May 18. The First single, “You Changed Me,” features Chris Brown.
■Songwriter Twin Shadow (real name George Lewis Jr.) is undergoing reconstructive hand surgery this week after an accident involving his tour bus and a tractor-trailer last week. The tour bus driver John Crawford and Twin Shadow’s drummer Andy Bauer both remain hospitalized in serious condition. According to reports, foggy weather conditions contributed to the crash.
■The gossip and speculation mill is in overdrive about the relationship of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. The pair were married in February but haven’t been photographed together since. A source told People magazine the couple had issues before the wedding.
