‘The Pickle Recipe’ beings local filming
A new indie comedy called ‘The Pickle Recipe’ is set to begin production in Michigan this month, according to the Wrap. The film is set to star comedian Jon Dore, Lynn Cohen (she played Mags in “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”), Eric Edelstein and David Paymer. The crew was spotted filming at the Hygrade Deli on Michigan this week (it will be closed to the public through Friday).
‘Amazing Race’ casting in Southfield on Tuesday
If you think you have what it takes mentally and physically to compete on reality competition show “The Amazing Race,” head down to the open casting call Tuesday at CBS 62 Studios in Southfield. The station is looking for adults to represent Metro Detroit on the Emmy Award-winning show, which features about a dozen teams who rush around the globe looking for clues. The winning team gets $1 million. Each team must be a duo with some sort of relationship (husband and wife, siblings, roommates, etc.), so CBS 62 asks that hopefuls come to the casting call in pairs. Individuals will not be permitted. Attendees should also bring a valid photo I.D. and a signed video release form with them, which can be found at CBSDetroit.com. Pairs should be prepared to explain on video why they should be “Race” contestants. The casting call, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, also is food drive for Forgotten Harvest. Nonperishable food items will be collected. The station is at 26905 W. 11 Mile.
Actor Scott Patterson hints at ‘Gilmore Girls’ reunion
Scott Patterson, who played love interest Luke Danes on the popular drama “Gilmore Girls,” said on Gilmore Guys podcast that “there are talks going on” about a reunion. “I can’t really go into any details, but there is some activity,” he said “I’m hopeful, and I’m in. I think it would be a big event, and I think it would be a great fan celebration.” The Gilmore Guys podcast can be found at iTunes.
■NBC is also looking at Metro Detroit to cast a new show produced by Ellen DeGeneres. “First Dates” is an observational documentary series that is set to start production in July in Chicago. The show is asking that single people ages 18 and older to apply at firstdatescasting.com.
■Actress Keira Knightley and husband James Righton welcomed their first child recently, E! News reports. Details like the baby’s name and sex are still under wraps.
