Grapevine: Cosby seeks defense attorney
Bill Cosby seeks criminal defense lawyer
Disgraced comedian Bill Cosby has sought out a criminal defense lawyer as prosecutors in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, revisit a 2005 sexual assault complaint against him. The Associated Press reports that New Jersey-area lawyer Edwin Jacobs said Cosby’s agents contacted him about the pending investigation, and he referred them to counsel in the Philly area. Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman wouldn’t confirm news that the case has been reopened. The D.A. before her, Bruce Castor, didn’t think there was enough evidence in 2005 to charge Cosby, but since then dozens of women have come forward accusing the 78-year-old comedian of instances of sexual misconduct and assault taking place over several decades.
