Grapevine: Jim Carrey’s ex-girlfriend commits suicide
Jim Carrey’s ex-girlfriend committed suicide
Cathriona White, ex-girlfriend to actor Jim Carrey, was found dead at a Los Angeles residence Monday night. TMZ claims police said it is an apparent suicide via pill overdose. White, 30, and Carrey, 53, started dating in 2012 and split. TMZ reports that they reunited in May. Sources say her suicide note was addressed to Carrey and makes mention of a breakup that happened Thursday. On Thursday, White tweeted “Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest.” Carrey released a statement Tuesday: “I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona. She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt.”
The Who announce rescheduled dates
The Who has rescheduled its scrapped fall tour, and the make-up dates will kick off Feb. 27 at Joe Louis Arena, venue officials announced Tuesday. Earlier this month, the Brit rockers postponed a handful of dates on the North American leg of its 50th anniversary tour, including an Oct. 17 date at Joe Louis Arena, after singer Roger Daltrey was diagnosed with viral meningitis. “I am now on the mend and feeling a lot better,” Daltrey said in a statement accompanying the new announcement. The Joe Louis date kicks off a 28-date winter and spring run that wraps up May 29 in Las Vegas. Tickets for the originally planned Joe Louis show will be honored at the Feb. 27 date.
Paul Walker’s daughter sues Porsche over father’s death
Meadow Rain Walker — the 16-year-old daughter of late actor Paul Walker — has filed a lawsuit against Porsche, claiming the car her father was riding in had design flaws that contributed to his death. “The Porsche Carrera GT is a dangerous car. It doesn't belong on the street,” Walker’s attorney, Jeff Milam, said in a statement. “And we shouldn’t be without Paul Walker or his friend, Roger Rodas.” The amount Meadow Rain Walker is suing for is unspecified. Her father, star of the “Fast and Furious” film franchise, was killed in the November 2013 car crash along with driver Rodas. Walker was 40.
R.I.P. Log Lady
Catherine E. Coulson died Monday morning of cancer. The 71-year-old actress was best known for her role as the Log Lady — a bespectacled character who always carried a small log in her arms — in David Lynch’s 1990s television series “Twin Peaks.”
Kaley Cuoco files for divorce
“Big Bang Theory” actor Kaley Cuoco has filed for divorce from husband Ryan Sweeting, citing irreconcilable differences. Seems like the magic of being a “housewife” wore off. Cucoco came under fire earlier this year for declaring she’s not a feminist in an interview with Redbook. “I was never that feminist girl demanding equality, but maybe that’s because I’ve never really faced inequality,” she told Redbook in a January issue. “I cook for Ryan five nights a week: it makes me feel like a housewife; I love that.” She clarified her statement about feminism shortly after via Instagram.
